Transcendence

I was inspired by the T-shaped painted silk garment uncovered in a Han dynasty tomb in Hunan Province, China. The tapestry depicts the scene of Marquise Dai's soul ascending to the universe and reuniting with the Human ancestor after her death. The robe was supposed to be a “flying robe” for her soul to wear so that she could ascend to the heavenly realm.

I also connected the scene with modern quantum physics to create a dialogue between the past and present, as I found out how these theories can be similar to ancient beliefs on life after death.
