Zhang Qian’s Journey to the Western Regions

This project presents a set of myriorama cards that together tell the epic journey of Zhang Qian, a Han‑dynasty envoy sent by Emperor Wu to seek an alliance with the Rouzhi (Yuezhi) against the Xiongnu. Zhang Qian was detained by the Huns for a decade, escaped to continue his mission, was recaptured during his return, and eventually returned to Chang'an after enduring numerous hardships and political turmoil. The back of each card features a brief text explaining the episode portrayed and guiding you to arrange the cards in their proper sequence.
